Neemacare Reusable Sanitary Pads
The idea of making reusable sanitary pads is to provide a sustainable, eco-friendly and potentially more affordable alternative to disposable pads.
Reusable pads are made from absorbent materials such as cotton, sewn together, and designed to be cleaned and reused rather than thrown away.
Through this initiative, Neema Sisters connects menstrual health and hygiene with practical skills, environmental responsibility, accessibility and the empowerment of women and girls.
Sustainability & Environment
Reusable pads can help reduce the amount of disposable menstrual waste and the packaging and landfill burden associated with single-use products.
Affordability & Accessibility
Because reusable pads can be used repeatedly, they can offer a more cost-effective option over time and help address barriers to access to menstrual hygiene products.
Empowerment of Women & Girls
Teaching women and girls how to make and use reusable pads can support menstrual hygiene, dignity and greater control over menstrual health.
Economic Opportunities
Reusable pad production can create income-generating opportunities for individuals and communities while building practical skills.
From menstrual health to opportunity.
Access to affordable menstrual hygiene products can be a significant barrier to education and participation in society. Neemacare reusable pads are presented as a practical and accessible response to this challenge.
The initiative also creates an opportunity to build practical skills and support women and girls while contributing to environmental sustainability.
The Neemacare initiative brings together menstrual hygiene, sustainability, empowerment and economic opportunity — demonstrating how practical community action can contribute to positive social change.

Supporting women and girls with practical approaches to menstrual hygiene and dignity.
Responsible Reuse
Reusable pads can reduce disposable waste when they are properly cleaned, dried and maintained after use.
How to Use & Care for Reusable Cloth Pads
Reusable cloth pads can provide a practical menstrual hygiene option when they are used, washed and cared for properly.
Proper cleaning, drying and storage are important for maintaining hygiene and extending the useful life of reusable pads.
This guide provides simple steps for using, washing and caring for reusable cloth pads.
How to Wash Your Reusable Cloth Pad
Follow these four simple steps to clean your reusable cloth pad and prepare it for its next use.
Rinse Out
Before washing, thoroughly rinse the used pad with water to remove menstrual blood. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.
Soak
Soak the pad in cold water for around 40 minutes. If the pad is heavily stained, rinse the stained water and soak it again in fresh water.
Wash With Soap
After rinsing and soaking, wash the pad by hand using warm water and a small amount of washing soap.
Hang Dry
Air-dry the pad thoroughly. The supplied guide recommends drying under sunlight.
How to Use a Reusable Cloth Pad
Position the pad correctly and make sure it is securely attached to your underwear.
Place the Pad
Place the pad on the bottom of your underwear.
Position the Absorbent Side
Make sure the absorbent side of the pad is against your skin.
Secure the Wings
Wrap the wings around the crotch of the underwear and snap them together.
Caring for Your Reusable Pads
Good hygiene and proper care help keep reusable pads clean, comfortable and ready for future use.
Change When Needed
Replace the pad when it becomes wet or needs changing.
Use a Wet Bag
Keep used pads in a suitable wet bag while carrying them until they can be washed.
Dry Completely
Make sure pads are thoroughly dry before storing or using them again.
Reuse Responsibly
Clean and maintain reusable pads properly so that they can continue to be used as intended.
Menstrual health is about more than managing periods.
It is about dignity, confidence, knowledge and opportunity. Through menstrual health education and reusable sanitary pad initiatives, Neema Sisters works to support women and girls with practical information and approaches to menstrual hygiene.
